The IP rating is a key factor when choosing your sound system equipment. Depending on your requirements, you need to analyse the IP rating scale – which is relatively broad – in order to select the most suitable equipment for the intended use of the loudspeaker (weather conditions, vandalism).
The degree of protection provided by the enclosures of electrical equipment is defined in accordance with the IEC 60529, EN 60529 and NF C 20-010 standards.
In the table below, you will find the first digit, which indicates the level of protection against accidental contact, foreign objects and dust. The second digit indicates the level of protection against water.
