PA SYSTEMS AND PPMS ALARMS

Following the events of 2015, the government amended a circular (no. 2002-119 of May 22, 2015) concerning the PPMS (Specific Safety Provision Plan) for educational establishments.

The objective of the PPMS is to implement an internal procedure in each establishment to ensure the safety of students and staff during alerts for terrorist attacks or intrusions, until emergency services arrive in the event of a major risk.

How to implement the Specific Safety Provision Plans (PPMS) regarding the risks of attacks and intrusions in schools?

Since the new directives of June 2023, the responsibility for drawing up PPMS for schools now lies with the Directorate of Departmental National Education Services (DSDEN). In collaboration with other government departments, local authorities, and using available national and local resources, the DSDEN identifies the specific risks and threats for each school and educational establishment. Throughout this process, the school principal is consulted, and the validation of the PPMS is subject to the approval of the mayor or the president of the EPCI. As for middle and high schools, the head of the establishment draws up the alarm plan, based on resources provided by the DSDEN, security experts, and their own feedback.
