A 100V speaker is a loudspeaker specially designed for professional sound installations. Unlike conventional speakers that operate at low voltage (8 ohms), 100V speakers use an integrated transformer that allows high-voltage audio to be transported over long distances without loss of quality.

The principle is simple: Our 100V amplifier sends the high voltage signal to all the speakers connected in parallel. Each speaker has a power selector that allows you to adjust the volume according to the needs of the area to be sounded. This flexibility makes 100V speakers the reference solution for modern professional sound installations.

The sizing of a 100V speaker installation depends on several essential factors. First, calculate the total area to cover and the desired sound level. As a general rule, count on 1 watt per square meter for an ambient diffusion and up to 3 watts per square meter for a higher level.

The ceiling height also influences the choice: the higher the space, the more you will have to increase the power to maintain good intelligibility at the level of the listeners. Then distribute the speakers evenly to avoid sound shadow areas.

Don’t forget to allow a power margin on your 100V amplifier: the total power of the speakers must not exceed 80% of that of the amplifier to ensure sufficient reserve. Finally, adapt the number of speakers according to the acoustics of the room: a very reverberant space will require less power than an absorbing room.

The choice of the type of 100V speaker depends above all on your environment and your aesthetic constraints. Flush mount ceiling enclosures are ideal for discreet integration into false ceilings. They diffuse the sound homogeneously downwards and are perfect for offices, shops and spaces with suspended ceilings.

The 100V wall speakers adapt to spaces without a false ceiling or when you want to direct the diffusion. They offer better directional control and are often preferred in restaurants, reception halls or corridors. Their installation is simple and they are more resistant to moisture depending on the models.

The 100V acoustic columns are suitable for large spaces and outdoor applications. Their directivity allows to cover long distances while limiting the reverberation. They are particularly effective in warehouses, shopping centers or outdoor facilities.

Each solution has its advantages: discretion for the ceiling, flexibility for the wall, range for the columns. The important thing is to adapt your choice to the architectural constraints and dissemination objectives of your project.

The cabling of 100V speakers is simpler than it seems. Unlike low impedance systems, all speakers connect in parallel to the same 100V output line of your amplifier. Use a shielded audio cable adapted to the distance and total power of your installation.

Start by calculating the required cable section: for distances of less than 100 meters, a 1.5 mm2 cable is generally sufficient. Beyond, opt for 2.5 mm2 to avoid losses. Respect the polarity (+ and -) on all connections to maintain phase consistency.

Each speaker has clearly identified connection terminals. Simply connect the + of the amplifier to the + of the first speaker, then link it to the following ones. The - follows the same principle. This parallel configuration allows you to power all your speakers from a single amplifier output.

Check that the sum of the powers selected on each speaker does not exceed the capacity of your 100V amplifier. A good cabling system ensures reliable installation and optimal sound quality over your entire network.

The power of a 100V speaker is generally set using a selector located on the speaker itself. Common values range from 0.5W to 30W depending on the model. This setting determines the sound level that the speaker will reproduce in its broadcast area.

For a musical ambiance broadcast (stores, offices), 1 to 3 watts per speaker are more than enough. For voice announcements requiring good intelligibility, go up to 3-6 watts. Noisy spaces or outdoor installations may require 10 watts or more per broadcast point.

The beauty of the 100V system lies in its flexibility: you can adjust the power of each speaker independently according to the needs of each area. A reception can be set to 6 watts while the offices remain at 2 watts, all on the same installation.
